ELIOT WAUGH SOULMATE

Eliot and Quentin started out as best friends. He was the first magician Quentin met, when he arrived at Brakebills. Eliot immediately called dibs on him. Nothing romantic happened in the start outside of general friendship and flirting, although they did have a one night stand. But over time they grew closer and inseparable and fell in love while stuck in an alternate timeline. They kept those memories but Eliot was afraid and pushed him away. Quentin became more aware that he never got over Eliot when he was possessed by the monster, and Eliot decided to tell him the truth once he got out. Unfortunately, Quentin died before they could reconcile. Now they're making up for lost time by being disgustingly in love and bickering like an old married couple. Eliot is everything to Quentin: best friend, lover, and life partner.

MARGO HANSON BEST FRIEND

Quentin met Margo on his first day at Brakebills. They got along right away despite very different personalities and approaches to life. They are the same level of nerd in pop culture terms she just makes it look cool. He admires her strength and resilience, and she tolerates his flailing and softness. They did have sex one time, but he otherwise has always seen her more as family. She is one of his favorite people in the world and he's tried to make her arrival into New Amsterdam as smooth as possible. It was hard to tell her that he dies shortly after when she came from, but they're trying to keep going.

PENNY ADIYODI BEST FRIEND WHETHER HE LIKES IT OR NOT

Penny and Quentin have had a contentious relationship since the moment they met. They were assigned as roommates but Penny was not impressed or interested in getting to know Quentin. Through happenstance they were just forced to keep dealing with one another due to their group of friends or through fate or whatever it ended up being. They bump heads a lot due to very different personalities and that Penny had sex with Alice, but in the end, Quentin cares for him deeply. He's always wanted Penny's approval despite never getting it. Losing him was a shock, so much of a shock that Quentin laughed as an inappropriate response. He's missed him a great deal since then, and while he came to be okay with Penny 23, this will always be his Penny. He's glad they'll both get a chance at a second life.

CLARKE GRIFFIN FOUND FAMILY

Clarke and Quentin connected almost immediately upon contact. They found out quickly they have a lot in common, including being martyrs for a cause, struggling with always doing the right thing, and being unexpected parents. After sharing his memory of his former life, he told Clarke about his death and they resolved to make sure they can stay. When Eliot left briefly, she took him in to her home, and he stayed there before inheriting Klaus' apartment. But the two of them remain close. He's very loyal to Clarke and will bend over backwards to help her.

SILENA BEAUREGARD FOUND FAMILY

Silena and Quentin met on the network being silly at one another and that playful chatter kept up for awhile. They shared their knowledge about gods and the supernatural, and Q nerded out at her frequently. This friendship became closer when they got to hang out in person, and he's fallen naturally into seeing her as like a little sister to him. She was the first person he used his powers with and since then she's kept a hand mirror with him so they can always talk. They love to talk Harry Potter and she basically lights up his life whenever she's around him.

REY FOUND FAMILY

Rey and Quentin started talking because he wanted to ask her questions about Morningstar, and eventually that became a friendship and partnership that continued long after. They bonded and it seemed like their different personalities balanced one another out well. They worked together in the simulation and out of it, and have deepened their friendship with conversations both silly and serious. He's talked openly with her about his past, his evil self, his relationships, and often offers her the same for when she's ready. He cares for her deeply and worries about her.

GODRIC GOOD FRIEND

Godric is one of the first people Quentin met when he arrived. They were in the safehouse together and he brought him food, without realizing Godric doesn't need to eat. They found it very easy to be relaxed around one another and when Quentin found out the vampires lost their powers, he reached out to Godric to see if he was okay. Briefly, Eliot and Quentin lived with Godric but when Eliot disappeared during the simulation, Quentin couldn't stand to be in the same room anymore. They reconnected later and Godric saved his life within the monster attack. He thinks Godric is one of the most interesting people he's ever met and calming and wise.

JON SNOW GOOD FRIEND

Jon and Quentin met in the simulation when Jon was curious about the Robin Hood video someone was watching. They talked a little bit about Robin Hood, and then Quentin visited one of his nightmares. During the monster attack Jon came to Quentin's rescue after a desperate mirror call. Despite being from very different backgrounds, their natural kindness and good hearts make them easy friends.

Marcos and Quentin met during the monster attack event, although they'd vaguely seen each other around before then. They were holed up with some civilians and taking a break. They struck up a conversation when Quentin revealed his death and Marcos talked about Caroline. Afterward, when Quentin found out Marcos was working on a soup kitchen for the city he immediately volunteered to help him. So they are now project partners and he really admires Marcos.
